 CIRCULAR

As you are aware that under the provisions of RTI Act, 2005, the concerned
PIO being the custodian of the information/documents is primarily responsible
to supply/disseminate information to a RTI applicant.

While hearing appeals against the decisions of PIO’s with respect to supply
of information to the RTI applicants, the undersigned as a 1st Appellant authority
has observed that some of the PIO’s did not provide appropriate responses to the
RTI applicants. It has also been observed that timeline prescribed for supply of
information was not observed in many cases.

In the above background all the PIO’s of Panjab University are hereby
advised to ensure that the RTI applications must be processed in the stipulated
time limit and appropriate responses be given strictly as per the provisions of
RTI Act, 2005.
